The district will again be well represented by six teams advancing to the state finals March 14 hosted at TK Schools. TK Students Continue the Circle of Giving Philanthropy isn’t a word most fifth-graders use often. But it is a word they fully understand now and have practiced themselves with the help of the Circle of Giving project through the Barry Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council. “Philanthropy is giving people your time, talents and treasures to help other people,” said fifth-grader Collyn Genther. How do I save money for the future? TKHS Art Students Earn Scholastic Art Awards Eight art students earned nine Scholastic Art awards. Samantha Barton earned gold in printmaking and silver in ceramics; Grace Densham - gold in sculpture; McKenzie Cooper - silver in photography; Abbie Numeric - silver in photography; Anna Timm - silver in printmaking; Julianna VanMeter - silver in painting; Audrey Johnson - honorable mention in photography; and Anna Miller - honorable mention in drawing/illustration. Our staff wants our students to enjoy school and have fun, while at the same time being challenged with a rigorous curriculum, a balanced offering of elective classes, and a variety of extracurricular options. The TKHS staff, in cooperation with students, parents and the TK community, are committed to enabling every child to achieve his or her greatest potential. We will give students tools they need to be successful once they graduate from TKHS - whether they are going into the workforce, attending a trade school, or moving on to college. We offer Advanced Placement Courses, dual-credit courses, and strong offerings in business, computer science, physical education, fine arts, and vocational areas. We teach and develop leadership skills, provide many opportunities for community service, and create an environment of helping others.
